A panel discussion examining the tensions between professional compromise and personal values in the creative industries will be held in Foggia on Thursday 30 April, as part of a nationwide tour addressing some of the most pressing issues facing workers in media and communications today. "Work or Dissent? That Is the Question", organised by transfeminist community We Hate Pink and sponsored by the Office of the Equality Councillor of the province of Foggia, will bring together leading voices from the creative and cultural sectors for an evening of debate at the Palazzetto dell'Arte "Andrea Pazienza", starting at 6.30 pm.
The event tackles issues that remain largely unaddressed in an industry that often prides itself on its progressive credentials: precarious employment, discrimination, invisible labour and the normalisation of power imbalances. The central question posed by the organisers whether it is possible to work without surrendering one's values has struck a chord well beyond Foggia, with further dates planned in Rome, Milan and London.
Dr. Assunta di Matteo, Equality Councillor for the Province of Foggia, will address the panel. She said: "I chose to sponsor this initiative because it confronts realities that affect working people every day discrimination, precarity, invisibility. The creative sector is no exception. Behind a progressive façade, there are often power structures that penalise those who refuse to conform. I am convinced that genuine dialogue between institutions and civil society is the only way to turn the principles of equality into meaningful practice."
The evening will also mark the closing of RealAds, a curatorial exhibition that subjects contemporary advertising to critical scrutiny, challenging the stereotypes and visual conventions that underpin mainstream commercial imagery.
Foggia is the opening leg of We Hate Pink's 2026 tour.
