Published on 9 April 2026 • Cultura , SolidarietàPiazza XX Settembre, 20, 71121 Foggia FG, Italia

Scheduled for Friday 10 April 2026 at 5:30 p.m. in the Courtroom of Palazzo Dogana in Foggia, the event “InDifesa”, sponsored by the Office of the Equality Councillor, will focus on raising awareness of gender-based violence and promoting a culture founded on respect, prevention, and the protection of the individual.

The event, entitled “Recognising Violence. Breaking the Silence”, represents a shared moment of reflection bringing together institutions, academia, direct testimony, and artistic expression, with the aim of shining a spotlight on a phenomenon that continues to require attention, listening, and collective responsibility.

The proceedings will open with institutional greetings from Assunta Di Matteo, Equality Councillor of the Province of Foggia; Pasquale De Biase, Director of the Department of Economics at the University of Foggia; and Professor Mariantonietta Fiore, who will present the TNE GPSEducation project together with the scientific coordinator and the UNIFG team.

The programme will also include a session dedicated to the stories and mobility experiences of lecturers, technical-administrative staff, and students, highlighting the value of exchange, education, and cultural growth as tools of emancipation and awareness.

This will be followed by the conference performance InDifesa, curated by Danilo Audiello, which, through the language of storytelling and performance, will offer the audience an intense opportunity for reflection and emotional engagement.

«Countering violence means first and foremost learning to recognise it in its most visible forms, but also in its more subtle ones, often concealed in everyday life», declares Equality Councillor Assunta Di Matteo. «With this initiative, we aim to promote a culture of awareness and responsibility capable of breaking the silence, supporting victims, and building a real network of prevention and protection. Institutions have a duty to be present, to listen, and to act, but change also depends on the active participation of the community».

The meeting is open to the public and aims to be as an important opportunity for dialogue and awareness-raising on an issue that concerns society as a whole.
